Tonight the Spartan Basketball team heads to Austin to face the #2 Texas Longhorns. Last year Durrell Summers helped the Spartans defeat the then ranked #5 Longhorns.
Tip is at 7:00 pm on ESPN2, or you can watch it online Here.
The Spartans have had the Longhorn's number the past few times they have played in this mini-rivalry. Every game has been close and I think these two teams could put together something special if they met every single year. Both teams have a tremendous coach and both teams are usually ranked at this point in the year. Here are their past few meetings:
- Dec 20, 2008. #19 MSU 67, #5 Texas 63. at Houston, TX.
- Dec. 22, 2007. #9 MSU 78, #4 Texas 72. at Auburn Hills, MI.
- Nov. 16, 2006. #NR MSU 63, #19 Texas 61. at New York, NY.
- Mar. 30, 2003. #1 Texas 85, #7 MSU 76. NCAA Elite Eight.
Highlights from Last Years Game in Houston:
DSP Prediction:
MSU has an advantage with their guards but Texas has some of the best big men in the country. If Kalin Lucas and Draymond Green have big games then State has a shot. Sherman, Herzog, Nix, and whoever else comes in must play solid D against Dexter Pittman, Damion James, and Gary Johnson. This will be a close one: MSU 72 Texas 68
Tonight's Bowl:
MAACO Las Vegas
DSP Prediction: BYU over Oregon State
DSP Bowl Pick 'Em Record: 2-1
